“ZIB Zack Mini”: Hand-Drawn Explainers
This is a second selection of drawing stories for ZIB Zack Mini, ORF’s daily news show for kids. Traditional hand drawing meets digital animation, and every topic unfolds as a small illustrated narrative.
The Challenge: Keeping a daily news format for kids fresh and engaging over several years, with a constant flow of new topics, from politics to science to everyday life.
My Role: As Design Lead for ORF1, I led the creative direction of the drawing stories and guided a team of five to six artists, from concept to final animation, in close collaboration with the editorial team.
The Approach: A consistent hand-drawn style with room for variety, so each story felt new while the show kept its warm, recognizable character.
The Result: Complex information became friendly and approachable, and young viewers stayed curious from start to finish, episode after episode.
Role: Concept, Art Direction, Creative Lead, Illustration, Motion Design, Infographics, Graphic Design, Typography, Project Management
